Things:

- In continuing rpg news, I have decided that there are, indeed, sled dogs in space. Possibly giant sled dogs the size of ponies. This is science fantasy, I do what I want.

- I had a long weekend this past weekend, and did a bunch of yarn crafts. Including some yarn dyeing - I wanted to start another of my Christmas 2022 knitting projects, but hadn't been able to buy yarn in the kind of bright greens I wanted, so I made my own. It came out quite well and I'm very happy with how it's knitting up )

- Also, I have completed my 100 day dress challenge - my 100th day was the 10th. I've really enjoyed doing it and am, in fact, wearing the dress today, but I'm very glad not to have to take daily pictures anymore. I'm also looking forward to going back to wearing some of my other clothes again, but I imagine this dress (and my prize dress!) are going to remain major parts of my daily wardrobe.

So, my mom and I have been doing the wool& 100 day dress challenge (you buy a dress from wool&, wear it for 100 days straight*, and then you get a prize). We started on January 1st, so I'm currently on day 47.

I'm honestly really enjoying it - just like I love doing meal planning/cooking once a week and then never thinking about food again, I love basically not thinking about what to wear. Every day, I put on my dress, put a pair of loose linen pants on under it** and a cardigan/sweater and shawl over it and I'm done. And, as a bonus, I have a lot less laundry to do every week. It's great. I'm probably not going to dress like this every day after the challenge is over - I miss my nerdy tshirt collection - but it makes a nice basic uniform that I'm probably going to continue falling back on.

Early on, I had mentioned the challenge to my manager and one of my coworkers, because it came up in conversation, but I mostly haven't talked about it because why would I talk about my clothes? Said coworker has apparently been considering doing the same challenge, so this morning she was asking me some questions about my dress and how the whole thing has been going for me and my mom. Which is how the rest of my coworkers found out.

Y'know how, when you're socially anxious, you get told that people actually pay a lot less attention to you than you think? (And you assume that's a lie because, y'know, the anxiety.) Turns out, none of my coworkers (except the ones that I'd actually told) have noticed that I have worn the same dress every day for the past month and a half. So that's something to remember the next time I feel weird about my clothes.

*To answer the first question I get every time I've told anyone about this: yes, you can wash the dress.

**The dress has pockets but more pockets are always better.

So, I love making shawls, as may now be obvious, considering that I am have three on the needles currently, as well as a half dozen that I've already made hanging around my room. I don't wear them a huge amount, because I get self-conscious whenever I wear anything that I feel draws attention to me or that people might comment on.

A small silver lining of the whole stay-at-home thing is that I don't leave my house, which means I can wear whatever the fuck I feel like. Thus, I am turning into, basically, a mobile pile of multiple layers of long skirts and shawls and cardigans. I am a parody of a library worker, it's fucking great.

I need to get some shawl pins, I think.

Things:

- I have a cold. This does not make me a happy pudgeball. In fact, it makes me quite a cranky pudgeball, one who quietly hates everyone. Grar.

- I did manage to dress nicely today, despite that, in what I think of as "stealth-comfy" clothing. Stealth-comfy clothing is the stuff that is as comfy as lounging around in pjs, but actually looks pretty. So I am wearing an ankle-length skirt* and a long teal sweater duster with the pockets full of cough drops and handkerchiefs.

- I am listening to my current audiobook in the stupidest way possible. See, I am enjoying it to a ridiculous degree and I am terribly sad about the fact that it will one day be over. So I am postponing that eventuality by...not listening to it. And thus depriving myself of the ridiculous enjoyment. It is very silly indeed.

- My new hard drive should arrive today. Alas, the recovery disk for the computer probably won't be here till Monday, but the arrival of the hard drive gives me hope nevertheless. I miss my computer amazingly. Work computers and my phone are not in any way the same.

- I am between actual books right now, which is annoying. Would anyone like to recommend me something? Horror for preference, but I'm open to just about anything.

*I would happily live in ankle-length skirts, if more of them came with pockets. This one has no pockets but is amazingly comfortable and cozy. Someday, it is going to wear out and on that day I am going to cry.

So, one of my boots has a big hole in it that, for the past few months, I have been patching with duct tape. Not very attractive. But now I have Christmas money and am going to buy new boots.

However! I have decided, this time, to not go with my usual tendencies and buy black boots. Instead, I am going to buy colorful boots. I have narrowed it down to two choices, and would like your help in deciding. Thus, a poll!

What boots should I buy?

The trouble with wearing my bloomers is that they go under my skirt. And thus, I am quite comfortable and toasty warm, but I can't show them off to people.

Well, I mean, I could, but it would be awkward for all concerned.

They are really awesome, though.

On differences in perspective:

Today, I am wearing the red-and-black skirt I knit, a white button down, black tie, black tights.

A patron walks in, glances at me, and says, "Well, don't you look festive!"

I do realize that I'm wearing red in December which I suppose does sort of equal "festive", but I have to admit that I put the outfit together thinking, well, I'm having a grumpy day and I should probably warn people: Danger, Do Not Approach.

Possibly I should have included something yellow.

Browsing ravely while waiting for the screen that allows me to discard books to come up. (Discard has 2500 items checked out to it, so it takes about 10 minutes to load and you can't do anything else library-related in the mean time.)

Internet, do you think I should knit these? Because, on the one hand: look, it is a summery costume item! Also, I could wear it under skirts in the winter and be warmer! But on the other hand: knitted bloomers. Would I ever really wear those?

Thus, I am torn. Also, I have too many projects going - there's the Kira vest (which needs to be unraveled and redesigned), I have a pair of socks going and plans for several more, and a shawl. But, well, summer and summery clothes are more immediately necessary, so...
