Things:

- It has rained heavily for most of the last couple of days. This is pleasing, as we've had a very dry winter and that makes me worry. (I worry a lot about unseasonable weather. It's much like I worry about the bees.)

- Yesterday, I decided to try to buy letter-writing stationery, in order to write letters. Not cards - you can't write a proper letter on a card - but semi-fancy paper and envelopes. Which is apparently a thing that barely exists anymore. I did finally find some, but surely that used to be a thing you could find more easily.

( - I also discovered the Letter Writers Alliance, which sells on their website a plastic pigeon that you can somehow put a letter in and send it through the mail. Fortunately, the pigeon costs $30, which is a bit steep. That is the only reason I have not already ordered one.)

- I've started listening to Gallifrey again, because it seemed like a good idea at the time, and am partway through series 2. And spent my dinner break listening to Pandora, which I had forgotten was the one that contains the Thing That Happens To Wynter. Let me tell you, trying to eat during the Thing That Happens To Wynter is not the best plan I ever had.

- So, the Kingston library is starting a monthly Crafternoon, which I get to co-lead. Which is awesome, because it means I will get paid for knitting. However, there was apparently some kind of miscommunication and it got listed on our website as being on the 27th and in the community newsletter as being on the 20th. So we're going to do it twice this month! Whee!

What I did today:

- Finished knitting the first sock of a pair. I am torn between elation - because it is a really lovely sock, with fancy cabling, and I am really going to enjoy wearing it - and despair, because the yarn is really stiff and thicker than I'm used to so it is a pain in the ass to work with and hurts my hands and now I have to knit another one.

- Listened to Big Finish Doctor Who things. See, while Jax was here, I ended up talking to her about them, and I promised to send her some. So yesterday, I went through mine and picked out a bunch to send her: two for each Doctor, and the first episode of Gallifrey because of course. (Okay, she hasn't actually seen anything with Leela or Romana in it, but Gallifrey. Yes.) Which reminded me that I hadn't listened to any of them in good long while. So I did Neverland, because I want to listen to Zagreus again, and then maybe possibly the first three episodes of Gallifrey. And then went and bought season 5, since I hadn't yet. Because it's apparently time for my semi-annual resurgence of the urge to buttonhole random people and tell them about President Romana and Leela of the Sevateem and Coordinator Narvin. It is these things that make me so popular.

And now I am going to watch Invasion of Time and cast on my second sock, with a grimly determined look on my face.

The parentals are back tomorrow, so tonight is the last night of experimental cooking. I am making orange chicken. And learning to deep fry! Which appears to be going pretty well, thus far. At least, I haven't set anything on fire yet, nor set off the smoke alarm, which I'm counting as a potential win.

While it's cooking, I am relistening to Gallfrey. I haven't actually finished the series yet, but it's been a while since I listened to any of it, so I started again from the beginning. I'm currently on episode four of season one and everything is wonderful and amazing.

Faux-Chinese food and excellent radio drama. I feel like this is a marvelous end to my vacation.
darchildre: the citadel on gallifrey, bathed in orange light (gallifrey that was)
Today, I have spent pretty much the whole day doing yarn crafts and listening to Big Finish audios. I have gone through several Doctor Who ones, and the first installment of Gallifrey.

The thing is, when I have an obsession on, I like to be able to experience it in multiple mediums. For instance, when I do Sherlock Holmes, I have audios, and tv, and movies, and so many books. When I do Doctor Who, I have the show, and audios, and, again, so many books. When I was watching Blakes 7, I at least had Kaldor City and the Administration series.

I have no appropriate Gallifrey-related media alternatives.

Does anyone want to recommend some Political Thriller In Space books?
