darchildre: the fourth doctor's scarft (crafty geek)
Today in frustrating things:

I have been poking around the internets for potential patterns I can build off of for the projects mentioned in last night's poll. And found this, which isn't any of the projects I was thinking about but is amazing. And the creator sells patterns in her etsy shop.

But not for that. Woe!

(On the other hand, she did make this, for which there is a pattern. And, okay, I wouldn't make the little tableau or anything but the cultist is pretty awesome and those are some of the best crocheted tentacles I've ever seen.)

Today, I am making sweets. I made pomegranate jelly candy, which is currently setting in the fridge, and now I have a batch of spicy chocolate chip cookies in the oven. The cookie dough is delicious - I love spicy sweet things - so I have high hopes for the cookies.

I don't get to try the jelly candy for hours, but I can't imagine it wouldn't be good. And it was about the easiest thing I've ever made, which means I can make it all the time if it's good. Hurrah!

ETA - Okay, the cookies are awesome. They produce a very nice burn and have a pleasant flavor. However, if you decide to make them yourself, don't do what the recipe says and bake them at 325 unless you want to be there all day. 350 works a great deal better.

Jelly candy update - alas, what that recipe made is essentially fancy from-scratch Jello jigglers. Which, if you want fancy from-scratch Jello jigglers is pretty awesome, but that is not what I was going for.

I have bunch of other jelly candy recipes to try, though. So I am undeterred. I will have homemade jelly candy eventually.
