Things:

- The trouble with not posting is that it becomes harder to post at all the longer you go without doing it. You feel as though possibly you should have something important with which to break radio silence. I have nothing important to say whatever, though, so I'm just going to do what I normally do and post random things that have occurred to me lately. 8)

- Mom and I have just started season 3 of Star Trek: TNG and y'know, now that Dr Crusher is back, I find that I honestly preferred Dr Pulaski. (Well, the Dr Pulaski we had in the latter half of season 2.) Possibly, this is only because thus far Beverly has mostly been interacting with Wesley and dear gods but I want that kid to shut up and go away.

- Megan played D&D with us this weekend. It was actually pretty awesome and I think that she enjoyed it a lot. Now we just have to get her some dice of her own.

- Also, I would like to point out that Megan has been home since August 3rd and we have yet to actually fight about anything. That has to be a record. Possibly, we are now more mature and adult individuals. Probably not though.

- I am making Katie a monster doll. It is apparently going to be a female vampire, which is exciting, only I don't know what to name her. Countess Zaleska is a marvelous name but I don't like the character enough to name the doll that. And I always think of Carmilla as blonde, and the doll is not. I'm tempted to steal names from Discworld vampires. Any suggestions?

One of our patrons has brought a Roomba for us to try out in the library.*

It is both terrifying and really funny.

*The question of who is going to vacuum the Kingston library is a matter of long-standing debate. See, all the other libraries have a custodial staff but then, all the other libraries have their own buildings. The Kingston library is inside the Kingston Community Center, which belongs to the county. And the county is supposed to take care of its maintenance and upkeep. But they do not clean the library. And my boss does not feel that we, as library employees and not custodial staff, should have to vacuum the library. So mostly, the library does not get vacuumed (until my boss gets fed up and vacuums herself).

Thus, the most recent solution to the problem we've come up with it "Try to get the Friends of the Library to buy us a Roomba." We are borrowing this one to demonstrate to the Friends how they work.

So. A little while ago, I took the enormous bag of change I've been saving since, I think, college and turned it into actual paper money. It was a truly ridiculous amount of coinage and came to something near $200. So I told myself that I could buy at least one ridiculously silly and frivolous thing with it because it was kind of, in a way, like free money. So I bought this. And it came today.

You guys, it is a (amazingly complex) Lovecraftian board game. And it is a cooperative board game, which takes away a great deal of my dislike of boardgames, as I am the least competitive person ever. But I am totally down with working with other players to try to defeat the Elder Gods! There are Mi-Go and Elder Things and a Flying Polyp. Possibly, you can go to Yuggoth and the Plains of Leng. There is also a card with Richard Upton Pickman on it in which he is randomly shirtless. I don't know what that's about. But there is also a card with Prof Henry Armitage on it and I am ridiculously happy about that. I am incredibly stoked, you guys.

Katie and I are going to try to figure out how to play tomorrow when I get off work. (The rule book is kind of amazingly long.) And Mom has expressed an interesting in playing also. It is going to be awesome.
