Apr. 26th, 2014 06:50 pmWhat I have done today:
- Miscellaneous crafty things.
- Watched cartoons.
- I do this thing where I subscribe to things on comixology and then I let them pile up for a while so that I have a lot of comics to read at one time, when I'm excited about comics again. So, for instance, I had 4 issues of Black Widow and several of Avengers Assemble to read after I saw Cap2. Last night's foray in to DC Online has reminded me of how much I actually do love the DC universe (even when that's a bad choice) and so today I read most of my DC backlog. Which was several issues of the Flash, some Justice League, some Suicide Squad (Captain Boomerang, why can I not quit you?), most of the Forever Evil mini-event-thing and the Forever Evil Rogues Rebellion tie-in.
...That looks like an awful lot of comics written out like that. I also have several issues of Earth 2 built up, but I haven't ventured there as yet.
Mostly, it was ridiculously fun. I am enjoying Forever Evil, because I love the Crime Syndicate and also I love villains banding together to save the world for their own selfish reasons. (Also, I love Captain Cold to an absurd degree.) And Rogues Rebellion was pretty much everything I want from a Rogues-centered comic: wacky comedic shenanigans where the Rogues are simultaneously awesome and rubbish, Weather Wizard being stupidly pretty (excellent redesign is excellent), Trickster actually being funny, Piper finally showing up again, and Glider being in all ways fantastic. I'm still not sure why we're now shipping her and Mirror Master (also I still miss McCulloch) but whatever, that's fine, he's still better than the Top.
And apparently we are getting a Wally back! So soon I will have nothing about Flash-related comics to complain about, except for the fact that I still don't understand why we rebooted the Mirror Master but not the Trickster. (That's not a proper complaint, though, because I like Axel a lot better than I liked James.)
In conclusion, comics!
- Absolutely nothing else.
This is the first weekend in at least six weeks where I haven't had somewhere to go or something to do. It is awesome.
