Y'know that thing where you're knitting and the instructions tell you "join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches"?

Yeah.

Now I get to cast on 280 stitches and start again. Whee.

If the pattern allows it, I find that if I cast on, then knit a row, THEN join in the round it can really help me see potential twists. (You can knit the pattern of the first row, if your brain can figure out what direction things need to go) The only thing is you end up with a slightly bigger bump at the join, but just leave yourself a long tail to weave in and you can go over it a couple times.

That is a very clever idea. I've managed to cast on again and work the first row without twisting this time, but I'm definitely going to remember that for the next time I have to do this.
