Today, I checked in a children's dvd entitled "Taking the 'Duh' out of Divorce."
I stared at it for about a minute, trying to figure out what the hell that meant, until I realized that the title is a play on words that really doesn't work if (like me) you tend to say "dih-vorce."
I feel like it shouldn't have taken me that long to figure out.

('I' pronounced very aah, and sugar as in 'sugah.' But still.)

Date: 2011-05-26 10:28 pm (UTC)I had a teacher once who was going over the difference between "sit" and "set", but was extremely hampered by the fact that she was from Oklahoma and pronounced them exactly the same. It was all "I set in the chair, S-I-T, but I set the table, S-E-T." I will never forget that.
