If I never have to hear "When I was a kid, they were called 'comic books'" again when I'm talking to someone about graphic novels, it will be too soon.
See, okay, a) they are still called comic books. When they are single issues. When they are bound in collections, it's often useful to have another word. (Also, there are some things that are written straight out as graphic novels and never sold in individual issues. Whatever.)
b) Now I know that you've never read anything but newspaper comics and Archie. Look, you don't have to like comics, I don't care, but you can take your condescension somewhere else before I find a hard-back copy of From Hell and beat you over the head with it.
Grar.
