Played the third session of our backstory-for-Beam-Saber Microscope game today. You guys, I love the setting we are coming up with so much.

Today, we were focused very much on the sapient whales and the huge water-filled tunnels built on Earth for them to travel through overland, and their underground water-filled planet-spanning city on Io, and their huge whale-mechs that were invented to be giant mobility aids for when they need to be on land. And then we ended up talking for half an hour about what whale art is like and the ancient whale tradition of audiodrama (whales invented 'pod' casts, ahahaha), and "Song of the Abyss", the first whale audiodrama to be translated into English.

"Song of the Abyss" is an epic secondary-world fantasy adventure/romance composed by/performed by/about whales. It develops an enormous fandom among humans as well, there's so much fanfic, I don't know how you decide which whales are the sexy whales but I'm sure it happens. I am honestly extremely sad that the idea of this audiodrama is a thing that I made up instead of being a thing that actually exists because I really want to listen to it now.

That sounds like some amazing world-building and I, too, need it to be real.
