Okay, I know that really, one should wait until a loaf of bread if cooled before slicing it, so that the next slice doesn't dry out.

Have I ever managed to actually do that?

Of course not. The lure of fresh-baked bread is far too strong for that.

That's my solution, too. And I also tend to have bread with oil, vinegar, salt and pepper, so less worries about dry bread.
