Feb. 15th, 2019 02:01 pmFannish things:
I have started Twilight Mirage, which is delightful so far. Thus far, my favorite thing has been the character creation part of episode zero, where everyone went around describing their increasingly Extra characters. And then we got to Art, who isn't playing a catgirl or a bodyswapping assassin or partially made of machine parts - he's just That One Art Student that everyone knew in college. I love all of them so much.
Also, new theme song! The Hieron theme sounds like saudade, the Counter/Weight theme is sad and anxiety-producing every time, the Marielda theme is made of shenanigans, but the Twilight Mirage theme actually sounds optimistic. It's great.
While snowbound, I caught up on several of my comics, including The Flash which, okay. It is time for me to admit that while I always enjoy everything surrounding the Flash - the mythos, the side characters, the setting - I just don't really like Barry Allen much. My Flash is always going to be Wally West and Wally is currently dead again. I don't think it will stick this time either, but it's annoying.
So! This morning, I started rereading Mark Waid's run back in v2 - specifically, the bit where fake "Barry Allen" appears to come back from the dead. You guys, I still love this run so much. It's goofy and fun and god, so very early 90's*. And there are other cool speedsters - this arc has Jay and Max and Johnny Quick and they're all so good. Plus Linda being the coolest and Wally and Piper being besties and in about 10 more issues, I get Impulse too.
I have been having trouble with books of late - I start things but they don't hold my interest for long. I think I will switch to just rereading Flash comics for a while. That's basically never a bad idea.
*At one point, Wally was wearing white pants, a black tshirt, and a white sport coat. So that's certainly A Look. Also - okay, so, most of my v2 comics are scans on my computer and I've put notes in the file names so that I remember things that I particularly enjoyed. And that's how I know that I'm about 5 away from the issue that opens with Wally playing Pogs.

Date: 2019-02-15 10:11 pm (UTC)also Grand Magnificent is such a good character and I love him so much for reasons I can't fully articulate without spoiling stuff. (All the other PCs are amazing too but somehow I caught Grand Mag feelings most dramatically by the end of the finale...)
