Friends, I want to make a cake this weekend. I do not want it to be terribly fancy, and I do not want it to be chocolate or contain nuts. Beyond that, there are so many options that I am having trouble deciding.

What is your favorite cake recipe that I should make this weekend?

I usually just buy a cake mix, but when it wasn't, I used to use a banana bread recipe and double it to make a sheet cake. I put cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom in my banana bread, and I do not put in nuts.

Lemon! My favorite flavor for cake, after chocolate, is lemon. Or a spice cake, with a cream cheese frosting because there is nothing better in the world than cream cheese frosting.
