- So, the Amish Sugar Cream pie that I posted about a few entries back? Man, that is amazing. It does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin - it is made of sugar and cream - and tastes a lot like someone took the warm milk with nutmeg that I sometimes make for myself and turned it into pie. It's great.
- Also! Yesterday, I made pumpernickel bread and it actually tastes like pumpernickel! Because I put caraway seeds in it and that was the flavor I was missing. And now I can have so many pumpernickel sandwiches this week.
- Today, Mom and I went to a fabric store and I bought a skirt pattern. It is a pattern for about the easiest ankle-length skirt in the world, but it has pockets and is the perfect length and I am going to learn to make it and then make a million of them. I also bought fabric - it is black with colorful robots on it. So I am going to have a black ankle-length skirt with pockets and robots on it. You are all terribly jealous.
- Because, see, I kinda figure that the point of making one's own clothes is to make the kind of clothes that one wants but cannot otherwise acquire. So I knit green lacy socks and sweaters that look precisely the way I want them to in colors that I love and now I am going to make skirts (with pockets!) out of weird geeky novelty prints with robots and rocket ships and wear the hell out of them. And when it is Halloween and they have Halloween fabrics, I will buy monster prints and make skirts from that too. It will be glorious.
- That does require me to learn to sew, but I have confidence in my ability to do so. I knew how to use a sewing machine once upon a time and I taught myself to knit from the internet. Sewing the easiest skirt in the world can't possibly present much of a problem.
