Jan. 2nd, 2011 08:11 amThings I did yesterday:
- Had a nerf gun battle immediately after breakfast. Totally awesome. I'm trying to convince everyone that we should take the guns outside and possibly assign some of us to be zombies while the others can be zombie hunters.
- Painted a nerf gun. So now it is copper and gold (I don't have brass colored paint) rather than blue and orange and thus looks much better. Also, it is immediately apparent that it belongs to me.
- Began experimenting with color work in tunisian crochet. I showed Megan the Epic Mario Blankent and she immediately asked me to make her one. Because I'm really not that into Mario, I agreed to make her a panel that could be made into a pillow instead. Which works out well for both of us because she gets a Mario pillow and I get a project on which to work out how not to do tunisian colorwork before I start making things for me. (In a spirit of fairness, Megan has been informed that this project is a learning experience.) Already I have learned that the yarn gets very tangled because the non-tangle little twist of the hook I use on normal color work doesn't work with a tunisian project. I've also learned that it works much better if you use little balls of the colors, rather than the whole big skein. Progress!
- Started planning the tunisian colorwork afghan that I am eventually going to make for me. (Because the afghan on my bed was a really early crochet project and while it adds another layer to the bedclothes, it's kinda ugly and not terribly well-made. I'd rather have something that I can proudly display.) It's going to have stars and planets and rocketships and it will be awesome. Once I get it charted. And possibly acquire another hook - the half-formed idea I have in my mind might require the kind of tunisian hook that has the cable. Which will mean hoping that the little yarn/fabric store in East Bremerton has one or going online because the last time I bought a tunisian hook I went to many many yarn stores in which the proprietors told me that tunisian hooks don't exist.
- Celebrated Mom's birthday by having a scavenger hunt for all her presents and also another nerf battle. Again, totally awesome.
And today, I am going to church and then I have no plans at all. Hurrah!
