Things:
- Went to the craft store this morning for buttons. They were having a sale on all their watercolor paints. Now, I suck at watercolors but I love using them and painting things that suck. And there is this little set of watercolors - 12 of them - that come in their own little fold-out case with little built-in palettes and a place for the water to go that I have never purchased because spending too much money on things that I suck at is silly. Except that there was a sale and now I own it. Oh, it is so pretty and will make so many terrible paintings!
- At the Bainbridge library, we have many staff amenities that the Kingston library is without. For instance, we have a library that doesn't periodically smell like fish from the senior luncheon downstairs. Also, we a break room. With places to store our things while we are working. I have a cubby that I share with another staff member although, since we never work the same shifts, our things are never in it at the same time. Also at the Bainbridge library, we have a water cooler in the break room. We very rarely have paper cups, though, so I keep one in my cubby that I periodically replace when I can find a new one. Today, I opened my cubby and there was my cup with enormous lipstick stains on it. Which, ew.* So I threw the cup away and now I don't have a replacement. Woe!
- There is nothing quite like shelving books for several hours in the children's library (which requires a good deal of squatting and stooping and crawling around on the ground) and then coming home and having to mow the lawn. Now my back hurts.
- But! I am making baked salmon and noodles for dinner, which I am excited about, and we have pumpkin cheesecake, and when Mom gets home tonight, we are going to watch the first episode of Sherlock. So, really, things are pretty good.
*This is not meant as a condemnation of women who wear lipstick. Honestly, I am a bit envious of women who are capable of wearing lipstick or chapstick and not being constantly in the throes of "There is a smell right under my nose and also what is this on my lips, get it off!" Because I can't do that. But I find lipstick stains on cups to be irrationally disgusting. It's a thing.
