Had a library meeting this morning. Most of it was boring but we did apparently change our policy on What to Do if a Patron Complains About Someone Viewing Internet Porn. Used to be, our policy was, "Well, really, if it's not illegal porn (like child pornography call 911 OMG), there's not so much we can do." Because, y'know, Intellectual Freedom - It Is Important. Porn wants to be free, just like other kinds of information.

Now, our policy is more along the lines of "If someone complains, we can maybe ask people to stop looking at porn in the library." And it is exactly that fuzzy because we are still all Intellectual Freedom (!) over here but some people get really weirded out by the whole porn thing. (Okay, and also all of the computer at this branch are basically in the kids' section, so that's an added level of weird.) There is debate.

I will freely admit that my first reaction to the whole thing is, "...dude, just limit it to text-based porn in the library." But then, I am kind of a weirdo.

And this has been Tales of the Library.
