I have now seen the new Planet of the Apes movie. Which I thought was pretty awesome.

You guys, are the original films worth watching? I saw the first one lo these many years ago and remember very little of (beyond the things that everybody knows) and have never seen the others. I'm kinda tempted but also kinda put off by the ape suits. Thoughts?

The originals with Charleton Heston are so very, very bad. Awesome concepts, but the dialogue and plot and.. just no. Maybe for free at home with lots of alcohol. Unless you like B movies on SyFy or the like.

But whenever I try watching the original movies I end up sporking myself in the brain through my eyeballs.

I am given to understand the tv series was pretty good and worth checking out, though.

I'm really hoping the movie does well and they remake the old ones, because I'd like to see them but I can't bear to watch Charlton Heston in anything.

I saw Rise of... yesterday and despite the awful title I loved it. The CGI was perfect, the story - well, I was totally on Caesar's side and I got a real kick out of seeing David Hewlett get beaten up and then destroy the world :) Someone needs to explain to Tom Felton that standing around with a sneer is not acting. But his was the only poor performance.
