Jul. 18th, 2011 10:50 amSo yesterday, I bought felt.
Felt is great. It comes in a wide variety of colors, it's cheap, it's reasonably soft, and you can often find it at places that aren't craft stores which means you don't have to drive as far. The giant robot, for example, was made of felt and thus (discounting labor) cost me about $5 to make. I love felt.
So I bought a pack of 12 sheets of felt in different colors and made an astronaut. My astronaut is about three inches high and has a tiny backpack of oxygen canisters. He took about an hour and a half to make, after which I made a three-inch red and blue rocket ship to go with him. They are currently in my pockets, because that is the point of three-inch-tall stuffed things - they can go anywhere with you.
The dimetrodon won the crafty poll and thus probably should have come first but, y'know, one cannot always direct one's crafty urges. So the dimetrodon is next and will probably also be pocket-sized. Then the astronaut can have dinosaur-related adventures.
Toys are great.
