darchildre: the fourth doctor's scarft (crafty geek)

Hey, look - I finished my gloves:

Not too shabby for a first attempt, I think. Now, because I am nothing if not overly confident in my own yarn crafting abilities, I am going to make these. And oh gosh, the needles are tiny. Which is kinda fun but also a little disconcerting, because I bought bamboo needles this time (I had a coupon and wanted to try them out) and it feels a little like knitting with very long toothpicks. I keep worrying that they'll break.

(Eventually, the obsession will fade somewhat and I'll stop posting quite so much about knitting. That day is not today, however.)

I just finished a pair of hedgerow mitts a couple weeks ago. I should warn you that just about everyone who has made these seems to have altered them to make them fit better. In the pattern there are two spots at which you increase - one after the cuff and before the thumb gusset, and one is the thumb gusset. Lots of folks left out the first set of increases because otherwise it makes a very loose glove. Unless your hands are big, in which case leave it in. ;-)

Tiny bamboo needles will not break! They might bend if you sit on them, but they will still knit fine even bent.

I like the color you used for these.

Oh yay, gloves! I love knitting gloves, but the first one is really intimidating. That color is great -- and congratulations :)
(I am enjoying reading about your knitting *g*)
