Dec. 4th, 2010 10:45 amMy chorale concert is tonight and tomorrow and the choir provides the refreshments, so I am baking cookies. I have found a new and awesome recipe, so I am sharing it with you.
Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 350. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy. Beat in egg; add molasses. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients in a separate bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture; mix well. Form dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Arrange 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, then let cool on a wire rack.
(This recipe is by Lisa Ashton of Aston, PA. I found it in the Gooseberry Patch Christmas Book 12.)
The awesome thing about these cookies is that they are really peppery. I love spicy sweets - I adore ginger candy and tend to put way more ginger in baked goods than is originally called for by the recipe. These are a great addition to my normal chocolate ginger cookies, which are equally fabulous.
Do you have any recipes for spicy sweets you'd like to share?

Date: 2010-12-11 02:43 am (UTC)PS you're totally right about the pepper. Mmmmm. I bought good black pepper for these and I'm glad I did. Also the crunchy sugar on the outside makes them.
