Things:
- I have matte grey nail polish. I do not have words for how happy this makes me.
- Tonight, I am watching Haunted Palace. Man, this film is awesome. Also, if I cannot live in the castle from Son of Frankenstein, I would happily take the titular castle from this film. Y'know what I like about Roger Corman Poe films? (Technically, this is not a Poe film but shh, we're not supposed to notice.) I mean, besides Vincent Price and the fact that the movies are awesome. I love the color palette. Remember when horror movies were allowed to use colors that weren't grey, blue, and dark red? Yeah, that's pretty marvelous.
- Also, The Haunted Palace has Elisha Cook Jr in it, which reminds me that I haven't watched Maltese Falcon in way too long. Maybe I should do that tonight as well. Or tomorrow, maybe. I love everything about that movie. It is made of wonderful.
- Relatedly, there was a kid in the library the other day named Dashiell. I was unaware that people were still named that. Hell, I was unaware that anyone other than Dashiell Hammet had ever been named that.
- I think it is time for ice cream.

I have been watching 70s era horror - The Exorcist, Suspiria - and marveling over how contained the actual horror is within the films. There's plot and visual *space* around the horror which makes it stick even more. And you're so right about the color - Suspiria is marvelous for bold color usage. there's also a huge difference in how music was used.
In other news, I just saw Piranha at the Drive-In - it's a perfect B-grade monster gore fest, ideal for drive-in viewing. I am reminded of Jaws 3D tbh, though I think this had more of a sense of humor.

Pirahna does look pretty much hilariously awesome.
