Today for Mother's Day, la familia went into Seattle so my mom could go to art supply stores and bookstores and the Market and anywhere else her heart desired. It was pretty much totally fun, though the Market was stupid crowded. Art supply stores are much like office supply stores in that I am apparently incapable of entering them without buying something. Usually pens or notebooks. I do not need more pens or notebooks but I covet them all. Today, I bought a lovely hardbound sketchbook that I will likely use for journaling and four different colors of gel pen.
Also, at Eliot Bay Books, I bought Monsters by David Gilmore because they had no books on horror films and I have felt a definite urge to read some horror-based scholarship lately. It happens periodically, and there are only so many times that I can reread The Monster Show. Now I have read the first chapter and decided that I kinda want to read through the book's entire bibliography. Alas, the library probably doesn't want to ILL all of them. Maybe just No Go the Bogeyman? I have wanted to read that for years.
Also, we walked a lot and went to many other shops and then came home and had delicious salmon and gave Mom presents.
And that has been my day.
