The concert went well, I think. And la familia seemed to like it, so that's good. One down and one to go. And then, a week off before the summer session starts. We are doing jazz in the summer. I am excited and somewhat trepidatious.
Here is a thing I wrote while waiting for the concert to start. Being as it is National Poetry Month and this is kind of a poem, I thought I would share it. It isn't finished yet, but I like what's there so far.
Mighty Odin,
Breath-giver,
A great gift you have given me.
I will give you a gift in return.
I hold your word in my mouth -
ansuz ansuz ansuz.
I will speak your word like a struck bell.
I will sing it like a great wind.
My voice will rise to the treetops.
My voice will blow the clouds aloft.
You have given me a galdr-spear
And I will cast it above the heads of the host.
I will claim my hearers for you, Inspiring One,
My battle-won prize.
Your fire in my belly,
Your breath in my throat,
Your word on my tongue -
ansuz ansuz ansuz -
these gifts I repay.
My voice will ring to the highest of halls
And make a sound that is pleasing to the Lord of Song.
