Jan. 1st, 2010 09:56 amSo, last night, as per my family's tradition of staying up watching movies till midnight on New Years (party!), we watched the Disney animated Robin Hood. (I had given it to Megan for Christmas - it is her favorite Disney film.) It had been years since I had last seen that movie and it is surprisingly still good.
So, what with that and the rereading of Sherlock Holmes stories I have been doing in the past few days, my mind immediately travels to my favorite Disney film which is, of course, The Great Mouse Detective. Which I also haven't seen in years but, if you put it on with me in the room, I could probably still do the majority of the dialogue along with it. In all honesty, I think that was my first fandom, if you allow "fandom" to be interpreted as "my friend and I made up elaborate and bizarre make-believe games for years based around it, at least until I discovered Dracula". It probably made me a Holmes fan. It certainly made me the world's tinies Vincent Price fan, when I was quite wee.
I wonder if the film would still be any good. Apparently, you can't get the dvd right now but Disney is supposed to be releasing a special edition thing this spring. I am going to have to acquire that, I think.
I'm going to have "The World's Great Criminal Mind" stuck in my head all day. Heh.
...I wonder if the library has any of the Eve Titus books. Those would be worth a reread, too.
