Things of today:
- I had delicious steamed pork buns at lunch! Making them was not a totally unqualified success - the filling is perhaps a little too salty - but I enjoyed eating them. I am looking forward to making more of them, possibly filled with chocolate next time. Or jam.
- Dear random library patron I've never spoken to before - I'm sure that you're just trying to be sociable and friendly but seriously, I would prefer that you not stand at the counter and talk to me for ten minutes about how you had to print out 70+ pages of medical paperwork and you're going in for some sort of fertility treatment because you've been trying to get pregnant for the last eight years and it hasn't worked. I mean, I'm sorry that you haven't been able to get pregnant and I hope whatever treatment you're going in for works out for you, but I don't know you. These are details that you do not need share with the random lady at the library counter, I tell you what.
- This morning, I was seized with a completely random urge to reread Crime and Punishment. I don't know what that's about, really, but I plan to enjoy it.
- In other news, I have been reading Isaac Asimov novels. Which I have never done before. So far, I have read Caves of Steel and part of Foundation. I have decided that, though it is interesting, I cannot live in Mr Asimov's future because, y'know, I like going outside every once in a while. (Though I do find it really charming that it's, y'know, millenia into the future but men still always wear hats.)
- It is September 1st and it's grey and misty and a little rainy and I am so happy, I just can't even tell you. Soon it will be cool enough to wear sweaters and I will be filled with joy.
