Things:
- The piano player did not come back today, thank god.
- I have, however, been mildly nauseated all day, which I'm not super stoked about.
- We are decorating the Christmas tree tonight! We had a tree last year but everything about last Christmas was the Absolute Worst, so there was minimal decoration and everyone was sad and it sucked. But this year, it's going to actually be fun and pleasant, hurrah.
- Along with planning all my Christmas Knitting for next year already, I have made myself a wee personal reading challenge. I have made a list of 12 books - one per month - from my collection than either I haven't read/finished yet or haven't read in a long time, and that require a bit more work to read than my normal everyday fare. It is mostly spec fic with a few sagas thrown in for variety. Plus the Nibelungenlied, which isn't a saga but is rather saga-adjacent. I'm trying to convince myself that I probably don't need to reread the Volsungasaga right before the Nibelungenlied for compare-and-contrast purposes.
- The trouble with making the list, however, is that now I have reminded myself of some of the books on it and I really want to reread Riddley Walker now but a) I have three books I'm currently in the middle of and b) that one's not on the list till June.
- Anyway, do you guys have any post-apocalyptica you'd like to recommend? To put on the next-up list, at least, if not to read immediately. Ideally not zombie-apocalypse or pandemic-related, for preference.
