I am generally pretty sanguine about wearing a mask in public spaces but a small yet persistent annoyance that keeps plaguing me in these mask-wearing times is that I keep buying not-good apples. I am usually quite good at selecting apples but my method relies on both touch and smell, and now I can't smell the apples before I buy them. It's frustrating.

I will admit to briefly tugging down my mask to smell things when necessary. I probably wouldn’t have pre-vaccine, but these days a brief unmasked moment seems like an acceptable risk.

Same. I didn't do it pre-vaccine, but as long as there aren't other people nearby, I'll risk a quick sniff.

That is frustrating. Faster apple consumption, then, or are they too far gone by the time you want one?

Ugh, that's a pain. The solution above, with taking a quick whiff would nobody is around, might be the best way, then.
