Okay, so, I've been using ask.metafilter for years and have gotten a lot of good advice and media recommendations from it. But! No matter what you do, no matter how you word your post in which, for example, you are specifically asking for Weird West stories, no matter how much you stress that you are specifically looking for books with a fantastical element and not just, I don't know, dark violent Westerns, no matter what...someone is still going to comment on your post and recommend that you read Blood Meridian. And claim that it's fantastical because the prose is very good.
My friend, I think we possibly have very different definitions of the word "fantastical".
