Dear library patron,

While I sympathize with your situation, we really do not have the kind of relationship where I really want to be told about how you have a medical issue where you go to the eye doctor once a month and he sticks a needle in your eye, complete with you tugging down your lower eyelid to show me exactly where the needle goes.

There are extremely few people that I have that kind of relationship with, to be honest. Possibly none.

The dearest person to me in the world had better not ever tell me about a needle going into her eye, else I would never crawl out from under the bed again ever.

Right??? Really, I do not need gory details from anyone's medical procedures of any kind, no matter how close we are.

I do not have that kind of relationship with anyone who comes to me at work that I would want to see and hear about that. At all.

Basically, eye-trauma is not acceptable conversation in anyone's workplace, unless the workplace is focused on treating eye problems.
