My library has a yearly holiday party that includes a white elephant gift exchange. A few years ago, one of the gifts was a small print of a horrifying clown child and, after that, it morphed into what we affectionately refer to as "the Cursed Object exchange".
Which is much better, really! I never worry that I won't enjoy the gift I get or that the person who gets mine will hate it - I know both gifts will be terrible and hilarious and that all of us will have a great time. We ritually display the original cursed object painting (whom we have named Frances and who usually lives in the break area so that Frances can watch over all of us at all times*), open all the terrible gifts, and then take a photo of them.

Frances is, of course, the framed picture in the middle.
I received the teapot shaped like two cats, which I am planning to actually make tea out of at least once. This was an excellent year.
*Frances is slowly developing a sort of half-joking cult that identifies them as the cause of anything strange that happens at the library. My eventual goal is to a) spread the cult to other library branches and b) so firmly establish it here that it persists even after everyone who currently works here retires.

Date: 2019-12-14 06:50 pm (UTC)My work does a "Secret Santa" thing every year (so long as I take charge and plan it) at our annual holiday party. (The year my mom passed away I was in no condition to take on that work, and no one else bothered, so it didn't happen...but that's another story.)
I've made it as easy on us as possible, though - everyone uses their business card so their name is on it, and then they write 3-5 small items on the back as gift ideas so the person who pulls their name has an idea of what they like.
Anyway, glad you had a good time!
