The thing about autumn is that I feel better in almost all ways than I did in the summer because the weather isn't making me depressed but also, cloudy rainy cold weather mostly makes me want to stay home and knit and listen to The Magnus Archives (at least this year), so it's not like I gain fresh new motivation to do productive social things.

I do end up owning a lot more handmade socks, though, which is something.

Productive social things are overrated. Handmade socks are awesome.

I haven't tried knitting socks yet. Any suggestions for where to start/what to look for in sock knitting patterns?

Socks are my favorite! If you are comfortable knitting in the round with dpns and don't want to do anything fancy like cables, the only weird bit is heel shaping and most patterns will walk you through exactly what to do with that. This is a nice easy free pattern.
