Since Monday, I have been the kind of sick where I have very minor cold symptoms - sore throat, stuffy nose - that have been easily alleviated with cold medicine and also a pervasive feeling of fatigue and a lack of stamina. (Yesterday, I got winded after rubbing my hands together vigorously for less than a minute.) I hate these kinds of colds, because I feel like if I'm not presenting obvious external symptoms I really shouldn't be allowed to just sit around doing nothing all day, but getting up and actually doing things (like going to work) just isn't feasible. And logically, I know that sitting still and doing nothing is in fact the right choice because that's how I get better, but still, I feel guilty and vaguely as though I am malingering.

Stupid puritan work ethic.

Fortunately, I am still able to knit, which alleviates the guilt a little. Knitting Is Productive, after all. So by the time I get over this cold, maybe I will have a new pair of socks.

Totally on the same page here. I don't feel like I should stay home from work unless I have a foot caught in a bear trap but I also work with a lot of people with health issues so I shouldn't be dragging my germs into work.

I get this completely. I have a hard time calling out of work sick, too. It can be a problem!
