Thursdays, in my library system, are system-wide meeting days. All meetings are scheduled for Thursday morning and, because of that, none of the branches open till 1 pm.
On days when I have a meeting, this is fine. On days when I don't, I'm still scheduled to come in at 9. While it's nice to have time to do things without having to get in the way of browsing patrons, that is still a very long time to be at work without the library being open. By the time it gets to 1 o'clock, the whole staff usually has a collective "Wait, you mean we have to actually let the public in - we can't just go home now?" moment.
It is especially bad this week, as I just got a book that I'm excited about and I could be at home, reading about the influence of WWI on early 20th century horror but instead, I am at work and now we have to let people actually enter the library.
