Okay, so, about a week ago I idly started rereading Wolves of the Calla, then got bitten by a compulsion and am racing through to the end of the series. And the thing is, I haven't read the final two books since they were published. At that time, I was too busy having FEELINGS to point out or even really notice flaws in them.

Now, of course, I still have a lot of feelings but they are muted by time and by the fact that I know how things end. So other things are bothering me and now I'm going to complain a little.

1. I mean, I'm not going to say I didn't enjoy the reading experience because I did but friends, did anything in Song of Susannah actually need to happen at all? That was a whole book full chess piece moving just so that a stupid spider baby could get born.

2. I just don't care about Mordred. It's too late to intro a new villain, I don't have time to care about him, every time there's a Mordred scene I feel resentful because we could be doing literally anything else.

3. The only reason I'm not more mad about how Flagg goes out is that I know it doesn't stick. Still, dude's gonna wake up on the next time through and feel so goddamn embarrassed about this particular death. I know Stephen King is often bad at climax and effective villain deaths but this villain in particular deserved so much better.

I mean, I am still excited about finishing the series because I literally do not remember most of the details of the final book. And also I still love these books amazingly, flaws and all. But sometimes you have to complain about stuff.
