The thing about listening to Friends at the Table while I drive to work in the morning is that most of the time it's great but sometimes it's the end of the first episode of the Miracle of the Mirage holiday special and Grand is being tempted to become the Candidate (!) of Independence and the goddamned Counter/Weight chimes (that I always associate with Rigour and thus find mildly terrifying) go off just that one time on the soundtrack and everything is awful and then...I pull into the parking lot and have to go to work like nothing out of the ordinary is happening.

This is the worst possible timing, you guys, and it is such a long time till my lunch break.

I KNOW RIGHT

Fuck, fandom went wild when that first came out and everyone was screaming over the Rigour chimes. It's very good, and also very emotional.

I am in general pretty happy to be really behind on fandoms with a lot of content - it means that I'm not in danger of running out by being caught up any time soon - but the one problem with that is not getting to see other people's reactions to stuff I am having big reactions to. I'm glad to know that other people are emotionally compromised by the Rigour chimes.

It also says something about Friends at the Table that I got to the end of the episode on my lunchbreak and thought, "Well, okay, that was a hell of a thing that just happened but at least I don't feel emotionally devastated by this holiday special yet. YET."

Haha, yeah -- it's fun being on the fandom discord because everyone cries about things. And then people live blog when they're going through older seasons or episodes, and everyone goes "Yes! Oh you'll love some things coming up!"

I knooooow, their holiday specials are impressive that way. The miracle of the mirage is particularly impressive, just for how extended it is. So much happens and changes and it is very very good.
