Dec. 14th, 2018 07:21 amI have a meeting today with my supervisor and manager to discuss my self-appraisal and, while I know that I do my job well and that nothing bad will come of this meeting, I am still very anxious about it to the point of fantasizing about a windstorm knocking out our power so that I don't have to go through with it today.
They're going to ask me about goals, I don't have goals, I've never in my life had a work-related goal that wasn't "go to work every day and do a good job". The only goals in my life right now is "learn to use my new supported spindle" and "finish the sweater I'm knitting".

Date: 2018-12-14 05:52 pm (UTC)It's even worse, I think, that my managers and supervisors also clearly see that this is bullshit. It's just forms that need to be filled out and they're meaningless to our day to day work, so why can't we just skip the whole goddamn thing?

Date: 2018-12-17 07:16 pm (UTC)My supervisor is really laid-back about the appraisals. We usually chat about the previous year, how we're doing in general and what we could do next year. We also have forms where we have to write down goals, which are usually things like starting a new project, learning how to use a new tech thing, to manage time better, stuff like that.
My goals for this year were to finish a project I was already working on and do more booktalks. I finished the project in early Spring and I'm now quitting booktalks altogether. So much for that goal. :P
