- I went to Portland for the HPLFF! The beginning of the trip was a bit harrowing - the ferry I was supposed to take got cancelled and taking the next one got me to the train station with exactly 5 minutes to spare before the train left - but the rest of the trip was great. I saw more shorts this year than I usually do, and I feel like they were of excellent quality this year. It was so much fun being able to go the festival again - I already can't wait till next year.
- My dad is out of town for 12 days on a business trip to the East Coast, so Mom and I have split the kitchen table between us for Activities. She has crafts set up on her half and I have Arkham Horror on mine. I recently bought the Path to Carcosa expansion and have played through the first two scenarios - so far, it is fantastic.
- I realized this weekend that I was in need of a haircut - turns out, wearing your hair in a bun every day for years isn't great for it and I had developed some damage. So now it's shoulder length for the first time in over 20 years. I'm a little weepy about it at the moment, but I'll be okay. And now it will hopefully grow out better. (I'm not really looking forward to everyone at work commenting about my haircut but I'll deal with that when I get there.)
- Several of my neighbors have decorated their yards for Halloween, which is great. However, my favorite yard decoration is the house catty-corner from mine, whose owners have put a small statue of dread Cthulhu in one of their trees. The reason this is my favorite is that the statue has been there since the beginning of September, which implies that it's not meant as a holiday decoration, but a permanent part of their decor. Possibly they are Cthulhu cultists. Ia ia, and all that.
