Mar. 31st, 2020 12:54 pmToday I am bored with all my current craft projects and thus need a new one, so I am making avocado dye. (Tomorrow I will actually dye things with it, but I want to soak the yarn overnight first.)
Avocado dye is cool because it's a natural dye that produces nice colors and will fix itself to what you're dyeing without a mordant (which is a substance you add to your dye to make it stick). That means I can make dye with nothing but avocado pits and water!
Also, avocado dyes things a lovely shade of pink. I have a couple skeins of fingering weight yarn to dye and will eventually knit them into a nice lightweight top, which will then be the only pink item in my wardrobe.
There will probably be pictures tomorrow once the yarn is actually dyed but for now I'm just simmering avocado pits for several hours.
