Well, it is December 1st and I am already done with Christmas. Here are some reasons:

On a less crabby note, today I have finished the first of my colorwork mittens.

The eldritch clusters of eyes didn't work out the way I wanted when I tried to chart them, so I have contented myself with a single giant eye with a three-lobed pupil* on the palm and a nice spiral on the back. The colors are a lot of fun and I'm quite pleased with how the mitten overall has come out. (It's a bit lumpy, as I hold the yarn too tight for colorwork, but that will hopefully improve with practice. I just need to make several more mittens.)
Alas, I underestimated the amount of black yarn I'd need, so I don't have enough for the second mitten and have to wait until I can get more to finish the pair.
*Okay, Haunter of the Dark isn't my favorite story, but that's still a good image.
