Jun. 9th, 2019 03:52 pmMost of the time, when I choose a knitting project, it's because I want to make a certain type of thing. I already have colors in mind and the kind of yarn I'm interested in, and then I just have to find a pattern works.
Occasionally, though, I find a pattern and must immediately make that exact thing. This showed up on my tumblr today and you guys, I need it.
Also, I know exactly what it ought to look like, colorwise, which is why I have spent the whole afternoon doing dye experiments to make sure I can produce the colors I want. They are not colors I usually knit it - there's a lot of golden yellows and browns, and even a pink. Not a blue or green in sight, which is vanishingly rare for me. But they appeared in my head as soon as I started thinking about making it and I think I can properly reproduce them. Also now my hands smell like vinegar and one of my thumbnails is bright fuschia, but that is the price of crafty success.
Now I just have to order yarn so that I can dye it. I had thought about spinning my own but that would take a long time and I need this shawl yesterday.
