darchildre: children reading books in a field. (books are for adventure!)
Forgot to post yesterday - remembering to do so every day is harder than I thought.

This is compounded by the fact that I'm trying to do more stuff that involves not staring at my computer screen. I wrote a couple of letters yesterday - I got new fountain pen ink for my birthday, in a beautiful shade of greyish-blue - and I have secret Christmas knitting that I'm working on. (Mom and I also watched Arrow, which involves staring at a different kind of screen. It had Captain Boomerang in it as well as the Flash and was thus thoroughly enjoyable. (Alas, we didn't really get enough time to develop personality for Digger but I don't care, Captain Boomerang on my tv.))

I'm also starting a new and mildly ridiculous project. See, I stumbled across some sites on making a nature journal the other day and was intrigued by the idea but thought, "Oh, but I'd have to go somewhere else for Nature." But that is, of course, stupid. There is plenty of nature to explore right outside my house, especially considering the Wasteland (the stretch of undeveloped land behind the back yard where I used to walk my dog). So, starting today, I'm going to go out and look at the Wasteland and find out what all lives back there. Besides the Scotch broom and blackberries, of course. It is December and everything is dead and frozen, so it will be pretty challenging to identify things at first, but I think making the effort will be fun.

Alas, I am having a day where all of the people I come in contact with at the library are annoying me. It is mostly not their fault - I'm having one of those days where I just don't want to talk to people - but there are a few where I feel my annoyance is justifiable:

- The lady who came in and told me not to come close to her because she has the flu but still has dvds she wants to hand me.

- The elderly rightwing gentlemen who really really wanted to have a long monologue at me about how the protests in New York and Ferguson are unjustified. Sir, I am working so I can't tell you to take your nonsense elsewhere but you really need to. Also, I do not want to talk to you about ebola, biochemical warfare, or your thoughts on The Russians.

- The person who called and told me she was from the ILL department and asked me if we had a certain title ready to go back to them without mentioning that what she was looking for was a bookgroup kit and not an ILL at all, and then proceeded to get snippy with me for not magically knowing what she wanted.

I feel like I've had my quota of irritating people today, y'know?
