Today, as I was leaving work, my supervisor reminded me that she and our manager are going to a supervisors and managers retreat tomorrow, as are all the other supervisors or managers, so if there's an emergency, we are to call the one higher-up left behind at our main branch. Then she said that if either of the two of us who are scheduled to work tomorrow had any sort of issue, we should text her in the morning and she could beg off the retreat and sub for us instead. She clearly wasn't looking forward to the retreat so I, joking, said, "So, you're saying that I should call in sick tomorrow? Because I could totally do that for you - I have a lot of sick time saved up."
And even as I said it, I realized that I was feeling less than ideal, but I put it down to the fact that it had been a little cold in the library all day. But now, I have the beginnings of a sore throat, so I probably actually do have a cold. And unless it actually becomes really super bad by morning, I can't call in sick, because it will absolutely seem like I'm faking it.
I should have knocked wood or something. I'm sure I have brought this on myself.
Oh well. At least tomorrow's Friday.
