darchildre: birch trees in autumn (yi elischi sa ai chi bedhul)
Things I am excited about today:

- It is actually fairly cool. Yesterday was hot enough that I wore a knee-length skirt (!) and a tanktop to the fair but today it is grey and misty and I am comfortable in long pants and boots.

- I saw a flock of Canadian geese grazing in a field in Kingston this morning. I'm sure they are a nuisance for some people but I'm always pleased to see them. They are one of my favorite signs of autumn.

- It is September this week, thank the gods.

- I have a four-day weekend this week, as the library is closed for Labor Day on Monday and on Friday, we are closed for recarpeting. Four days off - it's like a vacation!

- My bloomers are nearly finished. Just have to do the lacy bit on one leg and weave in all the ends and I am done. After which, I have nebulous sweater-shaped plans. I found the Incredible Custom-Fit Raglan on ravelry and have been fantasizing about it for days. (Other people fantasize about yarnwork, right?) I just have to figure out what to do so it's not just tubes of stockinette stitch. I am tempted to add dancing robots.

Okay. I may have been thinking about sweaters all day.

So, first I thought, "I will make myself a black cardigan with a border of dancing robots at the bottom!" And then I thought, "Maybe I should make myself a sweater that is a color in which I don't already have sweaters. Like purple! Ooh, a nice rich jewely purple, and I could find or make up some kind of colorwork design to put around the collar and bottom and cuffs."

Then I thought, "...why don't I make a purple robot cardigan?" Which is obviously the best idea I have had in a long time. Because purple is a lovely color that I don't wear a lot of but I should. And robots are awesome. And I love cardigans and don't own hardly any.

Maybe it will have pockets. Purple robot cardigan with pockets - clearly the best garment ever.

I may have to buy yarn this weekend.
