Jun. 5th, 2010 09:43 amWent to the Poulsbo Farmer's Market this morning. We decided to join a CSA this year and today was the first day we could go and get vegetables, so we all wandered down to the market to pick them up. And, while we were there, we bought cheese and I got a bottle of rosemary honey (which is delicious) and a salted caramel cupcake. Our share from the CSA is full of various kinds of lettuces, as well as baby radishes and green onions, so we will have an exciting salad eventually. And they gave us a pot of chives.
The Poulsbo Farmer's Market has about doubled in size from last year, which is great. I love wandering around farmer's markets, seeing all the produce. Vegetables make me happy, visually. So I made a little resolution, because I don't have enough variety in the fruits and vegetables I eat: I'm going to try at least something in every share we get from the CSA. Not everything, because I know that tomatoes taste bad and that potatoes make me gag, but something. Things I've never bothered to try before. This week is easy because it's all lettuce, but maybe I will eat one of the radishes. I've never had a radish.
If nothing else, it will build character. And you never know. Maybe I really like asparagus or rutabagas. We will find out.
