Aug. 27th, 2009 01:29 pmToday's Freaky Library Book: Fairies 101. The back cover reads "Fairies are very real and loving beings who want to help us live joyful, prosperous, and healthy lives."
These people did not read the same fairy books I did as a child.
The fluffy angel books are bad enough*, really, but come on, people. I suppose it is possible that an individual fairy might, on an individual basis "want to help [you] live joyful, prosperous, and healthy lives" but I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of the Gentry either don't give a damn or would just as soon see you grievously hurt, if it happened in an entertaining way.
Really, these books worry me.
*Okay, I Am Not An Angelologist and everything I know about angels has come from classes about Dante and books about religion and folklore that I read as a child but seriously - angels = freaky as hell. Probably there is a reason that the first thing they generally say to people is, "Do not be afraid". Possibly, they like you more than fairies do. Possibly. Also, no, you do not become an angel after you die.
