So, my family has started a book club. Our first proper meeting is this weekend, where we're going to discuss the first book*, and I am supposed to pick the next book. The problem is that I can't decide what it should be. It has to be something I haven't read, which makes it difficult to evaluate titles. And it has to be something that's easily available in hard copy, since a couple of people don't do ebooks. Which kinda knocks out my only real idea**.

Perhaps you can recommend some titles? Genre fiction for preference, but really anything that isn't "middle-aged middle-class white people and their problems" could be workable.

Thanks very much.

*Which I have not finished reading because a) I don't much like it and b) I am terrible.

**Stella Benson's Living Alone, which I've meant to read for quite some time and is available for free on Project Gutenberg.

We can recommend a lot of things in that department. Anything more that might help narrow things down?
