No, I'm sorry, the library computers do not have the kind of security features that would keep untrustworthy websites from stealing your social security number. We have the kind of security features that (ideally) prevent other patrons from stealing your social security number but on the wilds of the internet, I'm afraid that you're on your own.

Not to mention, most of those websites don't steal your number, they ask you to put it in nicely. Now, we can help people figure out how to identify those kinds of sites, but those kinds of things are, regrettably, PEBCAK errors.
