So, this morning, my manager started talking about how she had requested a copy of Swords and Deviltry (the first Fafhrd and Gray Mouser book) for the library but all she got was an ILL copy because it's apparently out of print. Which led to a discussion of fantasy novels in general and fantasy novels that are great but no one reads any more or have never heard of and then my manager is all, "We should start a fantasy book club!"
And I said, "That would be awesome! But maybe we should expand it to spec fic in general, so we could do sci-fi and horror too!" (Because, really, that would be totally exciting and more fun than just straight fantasy. Not that fantasy fiction isn't fun on its own.)
At which point, I could see the inevitable approaching but there really wasn't a way to stop it. And that is why, if we do start a spec fic book club at the Kingston library, I will be leading it.
Though, really, that's okay. It's maybe the first library book club I've ever really been interested in potentially attending.
