Aug. 2nd, 2012 02:27 pmWe have this patron who only checks out movies. And he only likes very specific types of films - he likes action, westerns, and swashbuckling and he doesn't like black-and-white, subtitles, or anything rated above PG-13. So he's seen most of the movies in our collection that fit his requirements, some of them several times.
Thus, he's recently started branching out into new ways to find new movies. First, he started by having us look up actors and putting whatever sounded interesting out of their filmography on hold. Then, a couple weeks ago, he started on directors*.
Today, he has started finding random books that he thinks look interesting, bringing them up to the counter, and asking if there are movies based on them.
Alas that recommending he read the books doesn't work.
*Well, technically, he started by trying screenwriters but that didn't work out terribly well.
