Y'know, I'm pretty sure that I am more tired of talking to patrons (and coworkers) about the 50 Shades books than I ever was about Twilight.

Twilight, after all, never required me to explain Sexual Things I Learned On the Internet to groups of women my mother's age, after all.

Possibly I am just uncharacteristically old-fashioned, but I don't understand why people suddenly think it's okay to talk about sex in this kind of detail to strangers and extremely casual acquaintances, just because someone wrote a book. I mean, in an appropriate setting I will talk in public, to anyone, about all kinds of sex in all kinds of detail. In a setting where that kind of thing is appropriate! But I wouldn't engage a random library worker or my coworker's daughter-in-law or some poor bookstore employee in discussion about fisting or genital torture or, you know, SEX, for heaven's sake.

Heh. That's a new thing that has to be explained, yes. One would think/hope that they would use the Interwebs to enlighten themselves...
